A Strategic Future
Bespoke solutions meeting your real needs
Strategic Planning
Executive Facilitation
As leaders it can be tough to both hold the room and have space to develop and contribute your thinking. I bring calm, structured and action focused sessions.
ADVISORY
With over 30 years experience I can help with one-off or longer term support when having another perspective is valuable. This could be to support recruitment, risk analysis, options appraisal or scenario planning.
Implementation
With day-to-day pressures it is very easy to invest in developing strong strategic intent that then fades away as operational pressures come to the fore. I can work with your senior team to make sure you actually land your ambitions.
REBOOT
The last few years have been intense. And if anything, the environment has become more challenging. Perhaps you are not at a point where you need a total strategic overhaul, but taking some time to reflect and refocus can make a huge difference to your future success. I am currently running 3 types of workshops to help.
SCENARIO PLANNING
The last year has been extremely challenging, and the next year looks like that too. You maybe facing challenges to your funding or sales that you didn’t anticipate. Book a session for you and your senior team to work through some pragmatic options.
STRATEGIC PIVOT
Things have changed since you developed your strategy. You don’t want to drift away from your vision but you need to take into account the new realities. I can help you adjust whilst still meeting your overall ambitions.
RE-ENERGISE
Take some time with your senior team to check-in, reboot and re-energise. This session helps you all to focus again on your strategic ambitions and take some time out from the operational work that absorbs so much capacity to re-connect with your overall goals.

About Me
A senior leader with over 30 years experience in social, public and business sectors. I have a significant track record in both founding and growing organisations to scale; and working with a broad range of significant organisations across 6 major sectors. This provides a solid grounding in the realistic development of strategic and implementation plans, and business models. I come with extensive experience of creating models requiring collaboration and partnerships across a range of cultures and in complex ecosystems. I also have significant experience of successfully developing, implementing and influencing public policy. In a voluntary capacity, I have experience on a number of Boards; most recently as Chair of the Edinburgh Trust, and a Trustee of the UK-wide Turn 2 Us, both organisations focused on alleviating poverty.
sectors
Philanthropic
As a co- founder of one of Europe’s largest venture philanthropy organisations (t.o.>£30m) I bring over a decade’s experience of working in the philanthropic sector. I am able to give a wide ranging perspective to your needs.
Social Business
I have supported several businesses who work to the three bottom lines of people, planet and profit. My expertise lies in how to move from the initial boot-strapping phase into growing into a mature and scaling business.
Government
From both working inside government as Head of Child Poverty developing the £50m Working for Families Fund, and in influencing public policy externally, I have a good understanding of public policy development and delivery.
Private Sector
I have advised a number of businesses, from the start-up phase through to the crucial pivot to maturity and scale. I can help with bringing an acute focus on the bottom line without losing your ‘special sauce’ and values.
Academic
Throughout my career I have worked closely with the academic sector including sitting on the School of Management Advisory Committee with The University of St Andrews, holding a Knowledge Exchange Fellowship at The School of Social & Political Science at The University of Edinburgh, and giving occasional guest lectures at the UoE’s Business School on social purpose businesses.
Voluntary Sector
I understand the voluntary sector from a number of perspectives as a founder, Board member, leader and volunteer. I know the pressures and realities and can help with bring forward workable solutions.
